Salon Insider: Our Hair Pro Malerie Assists at a Vegas Training

Have you ever had one of those opportunities that completely up-leveled an aspect of your life? It was a moment of chance, timing and passion that our Hair Artist, Malerie, had to assist in Las Vegas for a top tier international hair stylist. We sat down to hear more about her adventure into assisting with a pro level training for fellow high-level stylists who came from all over the country. We knew that you, our Salt community, would love to hear more about her experience as well as some golden keys and current trends for the hair industry.

As Malerie entered the Capelli Salon, located on the outskirts of Las Vegas, she was met with an airy, natural light soaked space. The large windows in front brought in great lighting that carried on through the salon, creating an amazing space for education. Huge mirrors accompanied each station, along with classy gold trays that made the space feel even more special.

She had arrived to assist Mick, Owner of Craft Collective in Denver, which would be the best experience of her career so far. She happened to see a post on Instagram (@hairbymickk) that he was looking for a training assistant and she (@mal.at.salt) jumped at the offer. His expertise and precision in knowledge of hair is unmatched, she let us know.

"I was his right hand man (and left, and an extra hand…). Learning up close and personal with such an inspired hair artist made me excited to come back to Minneapolis and hone in my new skills." Malerie, said of her time with Mick. And we here at Salt are so excited to have her back to teach us all about it.

1) Sometimes, less really is more! Stop over foiling the hair.

2) PATIENCE. IS. KEY. Quit pulling foils too soon.

3) Styling is (almost) everything! The icing on the cake that makes the WOW factor.

"Lived in blondes are very on trend and are great for clients who want low maintenance but bright blonde.”
