Beautiful Sustainability: Gifts that Deliver Themselves

The Holidays are upon us and surely the energy of season is being felt around the planet. As we begin to compose our schedules for gatherings and connection, the topic of gifting is in the notes and on the mind. It can be easy to get wrapped up in the excitement – both in the positive and negative – but its also an important moment to hold gratitude close to the heart.

Take a moment to experience the present and connect to how you can gift in a way that is tender to the planet, kind on the pocketbook and inspirational for creativity. We’ve pulled together some ideas for you that are all of the above:

1. LET THE PACKAGE BE THE PRESENT

Skip the giftwrap and put together a beautiful offering that will draw attention right away. Try gifting a hand-crafted ceramic vase that arrives with a seasonal floral arrangement or a unique cake stand with baked goods catered to the event inside. A simple ribbon would add a little elegance to either of these ideas.

2. GET CREATIVE WITH DAILY PAPER

Consider the paper products you may already have on hand. Often we have old newspapers, magazines and paper grocery bags just looking for a good repurpose other than directly to the recycling. Pick out sections of the newspaper depending on the gift recipient like the lifestyle and cooking section for your kitchen-loving family, use your intuition and intention to create a note-worthy opening. Spice it up with a simple bow or reusable ribbon.

3. SOMETHING FOR THE KIDS (AND ADULTS THAT LIKE TO HAVE FUN)

With you extra paper grocery bags, or butcher paper roll if on-hand, gather some fun seasonal stickers and place them on the brown paper wrapped present. Activities are also much fun, try tying a few colored pencils or crayons in the bow for drawing fun on the package while they wait. Create an interactive experience by providing a prompt for older kids and adults alike. For example, you may want to prompt to write down a word of gratitude or provide a sketch to color.
